Installing a theme on your WordPress website is way easier than moving your mouse on the computer screen. First of all, we will know what is a WordPress theme and how does it work on your website.
What is a WordPress theme?
WordPress theme is a packet of graphics, codes and style-sheets that gives total appearance of your WordPress and WooCommerce Website. Theme can control your website layouts, design, stability and functions. A WordPress theme is fully customizable through WordPress backend. There two types of WordPress themes, Free and Premium. Either you can get the free WordPress themes from Theme Directory or you can purchase a premium theme from Theme Forest for your website.
Install a free WordPress theme from Theme Directory
The easiest way to install a WordPress theme is installing it from Theme Directory. First of all, go to your WordPress Dashboard then navigate to Appearance>Themes>Add New, click on Add New option. It will take you to Themes Directory. There’s all the free themes you can get. Check the rating of themes and choose your theme category. Find your preferred categorised theme. There are two options will pop up by clicking on a theme, Live Preview to check the theme demo and Install to install the theme.
After clicking on Install WordPress will take some time to install the theme. When you will successfully install a theme, you will see an option to activate it. You can also switch a theme after installing it from Theme Directory.
Upload a zip to install a WordPress theme
You probably thinking, how you will install a theme which is outside of the WordPress Theme Directory. If you purchase a premium theme from Theme Forest, you will get a zip file as the theme. You won’t be able to install that theme following previous method.
Fortunately, there’s an option in the WordPress Dashboard to upload a theme. Once you have the theme’s zip file saved on your device. Go to WordPress Dashboard appearance>Themes>Add New.
Click on upload, at the top the page. Next, click on Choose File. At this point, Navigate your theme’s zip from your computer and select it to upload. Click on Install Now button to upload and install. WordPress will take some time to install it with a success message.
As earlier method, you will be see Live Preview and activate when the theme will be successfully installed. Click on activate to use the theme.
